Their sustainability strategy consists of 10 specific areas.

01 Sustainable products
An affinity for natural materials is part of the Marc O’Polo brand essence. By 2023, the company aims to only offer products that meet highest sustainability standards, using certified, recycled and innovative materials.

02 Social responsibility and human rights
Marco O’Polo is a member of amfori BSCI and Fair Wear Foundation, supporting the continuous improvement of working conditions across the global supply chain.

03 Environment
Marc O’Polo takes a proactive approach to reducing negative environmental impacts, primarily by lowering water consumption, limiting the use of hazardous chemicals and minimising waste.

04 Traceability in the supply chain
Marc O’Polo’s merchandise management system is largely digitised. This provides increasing insight into the product’s journey. By 2023, the entire supply chain will be in focus.

05 Stakeholder management
Marc O’Polo regularly informs all stakeholders about developments in the field of sustainability with webinars, events and by integration of the Sustainable Development Goals.

06 Climate performance
In cooperation with ClimatePartner Marc O’Polo aims to be a fully climate-neutral company by 2025. In 2023, the company plans to join the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), a global initiative to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

07 Transport and logistics
Marc O’Polo optimizes its employee mobility system by financially supporting commuter train tickets, (e)-bike leasing and more. Their scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions will be further reduced by limiting air freight to a minimum and developing a sustainable mobility concept.

08 Packaging
Packaging material has been significantly reduced and replaced by more sustainable options. In cooperation with TEXAID, the online return process has been improved and a new packaging strategy with recyclable and returnable packaging will be launched by 2023.

09 Energy
Energy efficiency is measured through an energy management system with regular audits at the headquarters and stores. By 2023, energy efficiency will be further optimized by using 100% renewable energy in Germany, followed by other countries.

10 People empowerment
Marc O’Polo holds 2nd place in the Working in Fashion rankings of 2021, a German annual survey of the best employers in the fashion industry. The company’s philosophy rests on a liberal, open-minded ethos to promote internationality, individuality and diversity.
