Who can take part in the competition?
The competition is open to anyone up to 15 years of age.

Can I submit more than one design?
Yes, as many as you like.

How do I send in my design?
If you have a digital design, please e-mail it to

If you have a non-digital design, you can submit it to the customer service desk in one of our shops. If that is not possible, you can also take a few clear pictures and e-mail them to the above address. Please keep the real design.

Don’t forget to include your name, address, e-mail address and telephone number, and an explanation of your design (e.g. what it is, why you came up with it and how it works).

Where can I submit my design?
You can e-mail your design to or hand it in to customer service at one of our shops. If this is not possible, for example because you live too far away or because your design is too big, you can also take pictures and e-mail them to us. We determine which shop you participate in based on your postcode.

How do I know to which shop I should submit my design?
It does not matter at which shop you hand in your design. We determine which shop you belong to on the basis of your postcode.

What information do I need to include?
You must include your name, your home address, your e-mail address and your telephone number. You must also send a short story about what you have made, why you came up with it and how it works. Also indicate whether you want your design back afterwards.

If you are participating together with a group, please mention the names of all participants.

Can I have my design back afterwards?
Please let us know in advance if you want your design back, and we will keep it for you. You will then have to come and collect it yourself.

How is the winner chosen?
The jury selects a finalist from all the entries for each shop. De Bijenkorf has seven shops, so there are seven finalists. These seven designs will be displayed in our shop windows in January 2022. The jury will then choose the winner.

When will the finalists be announced?
Your design must be submitted by 31 December 2021. The jury will select seven finalists. If you are one of them, you will be notified and your design will be displayed in one of our windows in January 2022.

When will the winner be announced?
In the week of 17 January 2022, the jury will officially announce the winner in one of our shops. All seven finalists will be invited to attend.

What will the children’s director be doing at Bijenkorf?
As Kids’ Director, you will be invited to attend a board meeting where you will present your ideas for de Bijenkorf, as well as one of the events we regularly organise, such as a Saint Nicholas visit or a reading afternoon. You can also go on a working visit to the bakery where all our cakes are made and take a look behind the scenes in the shop. We will decide on the exact details together.
