Design the shop of the future – terms & conditions

  1. The competition Design the Shop of the Future is offered by Magazijn “de Bijenkorf” B.V., Haaksbergweg 34, 1101 BX Amsterdam.
  2. The competition runs from 14 October 2021. Entries for the competition must be received by 31 December 2021 at the latest.
  3. The action is open to anyone aged 6 to 15 years.
  4. Designs for the Shop of the Future can be submitted to any de Bijenkorf store or emailed to A photo may also be sent in, but the real design must be retained. The design must include name, age, name and address details, telephone number, e-mail address and a brief explanation. All names must be mentioned when submitting designs on behalf of several participants.
  5. The submitted designs will be allocated on the basis of postcode to the nearest de Bijenkorf store. The jury, consisting of T. Heilbron, J. Pariag, R. Parker Brady and I. Schmitt, will choose one finalist per shop on the basis of criteria including sustainability, creativity, execution and feasibility. The designs of the finalists will be displayed in the windows of de Bijenkorf in January 2022. The finalists will be notified accordingly. The jury will select a winner from the seven finalists in January 2022.
  6. The winner’s idea or a practical translation of it will be realised in one of the de Bijenkorf stores. In addition, the winner will be de Bijenkorf children’s director for a year. The role of children’s director is filled in consultation with the winner and their parents. For example, attending a management meeting, participating in an event in the shop and a working visit to the central bakery.
  7. By participating in the competition, participants declares that they agree to the taking and publication of photographs and film recordings for de Bijenkorf promotional purposes.
  8. Documents and data of the participants in the competition will be deleted or destroyed within one month after the winner is chosen. Documents and data of the winner(s) will be deleted or destroyed within one month after the winner(s) ceases to be a children’s director of de Bijenkorf.
  9. Participants who demonstrably abuse the action will be disqualified.
  10. No purchase or payment is required to participate in this competition.
  11. This action is governed exclusively by Dutch law. To the extent applicable to this promotion, de Bijenkorf is acting in compliance with the Code of Conduct for Promotional Games of Chance.
  12. De Bijenkorf accepts no liability for any typing, printing or printing errors.
  13. In cases not provided for in these conditions, a decision will be made by de Bijenkorf.
